With the launch of the Xtrackers DJE Europe Equity Research UCITS ETF, the independent asset manager DJE Kapital AG and DWS are introducing an actively managed ETF focused on the European equity market. Denominated in euro, the ETF provides investors with efficient and transparent access to the European equities that the DJE research team considers most attractive. At the same time, it combines the advantages of an exchange-traded fund with DJE’s long-standing investment expertise. The all-in fee amounts to 0.50% p.a.
The Xtrackers DJE Europe Equity Research UCITS ETF follows a clearly defined DJE ESG strategy for Europe as its home market. The DJE research team continuously monitors more than 400 European equities across mega-, large- and mid-cap segments and selects the 50 most attractive stocks for inclusion in the portfolio. The investment process combines qualitative analyst assessments with data-driven quantitative models. The objective is to build a balanced portfolio of high-quality European equities while avoiding laggards and structurally weak market followers.
Security selection is based on a six-pillar scoring model that integrates qualitative factors and quantitative metrics. These include, among others, analyst assessments, insights from company meetings, sustainability and ESG criteria based on data from MSCI ESG Research, valuation metrics, momentum, as well as aspects of risk, stability and liquidity. As the ETF is fully invested at all times, stock selection is the key performance driver. Half of the portfolio holdings are weighted at 2.5% each, while the remaining holdings are weighted at 1.5% each. If mega-cap stocks are included, they are represented at their actual index weights. This weighting approach ensures that the convictions of the research team are clearly reflected while avoiding concentration risks. The portfolio is reviewed quarterly and, where necessary, adjusted and rebalanced back to its target weights.
“With the Xtrackers DJE Europe Equity Research UCITS ETF, we offer investors an active, research-driven solution for the European equity market that consistently implements our ESG strategy for Europe,” says Thorsten Schrieber, Member of the Management Board of DJE Kapital AG. “For us, active ETFs are a targeted complement to our existing product range, not a replacement for our traditional actively managed strategies. Our new Europe ETF complements our existing Xtrackers DJE US Equity Research UCITS ETF as its European counterpart, enabling investors to cover both regions using a clearly structured and comparable investment process.”
Simon Klein, Global Head of Xtrackers Sales at DWS, adds: “Our objective on the Xtrackers platform is to provide a broad range of liquid and cost-efficient building blocks. This also includes making the expertise of our partners accessible through ETFs. ETFs with an active component are gaining increasing relevance as investment vehicles in Europe, which makes the collaboration with Dr. Jens Ehrhardt Kapital AG a logical step.”
The Xtrackers DJE Europe Equity Research UCITS ETF was launched on 9 December 2025 and has been listed on Deutsche Börse since 30 December 2025. It is denominated in euro and invests in European equities across different market capitalisations. The fund is designed for investors with a medium- to long-term investment horizon who wish to participate in the performance of the European equity market while using an active, ESG-integrated selection process.
